Error message at start...sonufa
PWX does not run and I receive error message that says :
unable to locate component
d3dx9_40.dll was not found
re-install may fix

I tried re-install and got same message, any ideas on what may fix?

Hey, Yeah I tried everything and then found out that Windows XP doesn't support DirectX 10 and above.. SUX So I guess I gotta hope and wait for a Xbox Live port or just get a new computer (gasp!!!) I'm glad you finally got out the game I'm sure it's great. Happy New Year!!!

as far as i know, you don't need DX10, 9 will do just fine. and xp can have DX 10 if you look really hard.

did you install the offline redist? it helps with a lot of games, even if your dx says it's 9.0c it might be missing a few dlls. also check your antivirus and see maybe one of them was infected and got quarantined.

I got this same error message (using Windows 7) the first time I tried to play the game. My solution was going to the official Windows Website and downloading Direct X 9. If possible maybe go and uninstall the version of direct X you have and install 9 from scratch. It should run on Windows XP. But that error message is without question a Direct X error message.

Good God almighty, never uninstall directx!!!!! not that's it's normally possible, but you never know.
just install the latest redist, it's will install the missing dlls.
